Rams Show Grit in Tough Loss to Golden Sierra
Rio Vista battled hard on Thursday, flashing speed on the bases and patience at the plate, but Golden Sierra's big innings proved too much to overcome.

The Rio Vista Varsity Rams showed resilience and fight on Thursday, though Golden Sierra pulled away for a 16-4 victory.
Rio Vista's offense demonstrated patience at the plate throughout the game, drawing five walks — led by Samiah Holley, who reached base three times via walks. The Rams also showed impressive speed on the base paths, swiping six stolen bases on the day.
Caleigh Bloesch, Camryn Perkins, Makyla Mandujano, and Taylor Bledsoe each contributed a hit for Rio Vista. Bloesch went 1-for-3 and drove in the team's lone RBI, giving the Rams something to build on offensively.
In the circle, Amily Jackson showed toughness by going the full seven innings for Rio Vista. She struck out seven batters and surrendered just seven earned runs, with several of Golden Sierra's runs coming off errors rather than her pitching.
Golden Sierra's big innings in the third and seventh proved to be the difference, as the Grizzlies capitalized on opportunities to pull away. Sophie Trahan went 4-for-4 and Makenzie Orcutt drove in four runs to pace the Golden Sierra offense, which also ran wild with 13 stolen bases.
Despite the final score, Rio Vista's plate discipline, speed, and seven-inning effort from their pitcher offer plenty of positives to carry into their next game.
