Our commitment to an inclusive digital experience

Our Commitment

Christine Perkins is committed to ensuring that our website and digital services are accessible to all users, including people with disabilities. We recognize that equal access to information is fundamental to participating fully in the real estate market, and we take our responsibility to remove digital barriers seriously.

We strive to meet and, where possible, exceed the requirements of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, as published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities, and they define a wide range of requirements for interpreting and implementing accessibility enhancements.

Applicable Legal Standards

Our accessibility efforts are guided by, and intended to satisfy, the following applicable federal and California state laws:

  • Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) – Title III of the ADA prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in places of public accommodation. Courts and regulatory guidance have increasingly recognized that websites operated by businesses open to the public may constitute places of public accommodation subject to the ADA's nondiscrimination requirements.
  • California Unruh Civil Rights Act (Civil Code §§ 51–53.1) – California law provides broad protection against discrimination by business establishments. The Unruh Act applies to all business establishments in California and prohibits discrimination based on disability, among other protected characteristics. We are committed to meeting our obligations under this law.
  • Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 – While Section 508 applies specifically to federal agencies and their contractors, we use its standards as an additional benchmark for evaluating and improving the accessibility of our digital content and services.

WCAG 2.1 Level AA Conformance

We have undertaken a comprehensive accessibility review of our website and implemented changes to address identified barriers. Our efforts include, but are not limited to, the following areas:

  • Color Contrast – All text and interactive elements meet or exceed the WCAG 2.1 AA minimum contrast ratios: 4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text, and 3:1 for non-text UI components and graphical objects.
  • Keyboard Navigation – All functionality on the website can be operated via keyboard alone, without the use of a mouse or other pointing device.
  • Screen Reader Support – Semantic HTML structure, ARIA attributes, and descriptive alt text are used throughout to ensure compatibility with screen readers and other assistive technologies.
  • Responsive Design and Text Resizing – Content remains fully functional and readable when text is resized up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
  • Form Accessibility – All form inputs include associated labels, and error messages are presented in a manner accessible to assistive technologies.
  • Link and Button Clarity – Interactive elements use descriptive text to convey their purpose without relying solely on visual context.
  • Language Identification – The primary language of each page is programmatically indicated to support automatic translation and screen reader pronunciation.

Ongoing Efforts

Accessibility is not a one-time achievement but an ongoing commitment. We recognize that no website is perfect, and we are dedicated to continuously improving the accessibility of our digital presence. To that end, we:

  • Conduct periodic accessibility audits of our website against WCAG 2.1 AA standards.
  • Review and address accessibility barriers identified through user feedback in a timely manner.
  • Apply accessibility best practices whenever new content or features are developed or updated.
  • Work to ensure that third-party tools and content embedded on our site do not introduce barriers that undermine our accessibility standards.

Third-Party Content

Our website may incorporate third-party tools, plugins, or embedded content that is beyond our direct control. While we select and evaluate third-party components with accessibility in mind, we cannot guarantee that all third-party content meets WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards at all times. If you encounter an accessibility barrier related to third-party content, please notify us so that we can investigate and take appropriate action.
