Rio Vista Rams Fall to Vacaville Christian 8-6 After Late Collapse
The Rams led by four but couldn't hold on, as Vacaville Christian stormed back with five runs in the seventh inning to hand Rio Vista a tough 8-6 defeat.

The Rio Vista Varsity Rams fell to Vacaville Christian 8-6 on Tuesday in a heartbreaker, squandering a four-run lead before the Eagles rallied late to steal the win.
Rio Vista struck first in the bottom of the first inning when a Vacaville Christian error allowed a run to score, giving the Rams an early advantage. They extended that lead in the third inning on an RBI double to left field by Taylor Bledsoe, followed by run-scoring groundouts from Samiah Holley and Makyla Mandujano, pushing the score to 6-2.
Vacaville Christian pulled within one in the top of the second when a groundout brought a runner home, but the Rams answered right back. The real turning point came in the seventh, when Vacaville Christian erupted for five runs on six hits to flip the game entirely. The biggest blow was an inside-the-park home run that plated three runs and gave the Eagles an 8-6 lead they wouldn't relinquish.
Amily Jackson took the loss for Rio Vista after a complete seven-inning effort, allowing eight runs — six earned — on 12 hits, while striking out four and walking one. Vacaville Christian's starter earned the win, going the full seven innings and surrendering six hits and six runs (four earned), fanning 10 and walking three.
Camryn Perkins paced the Rams offensively, going a perfect 3-for-3 from the nine-hole in the lineup. Rio Vista also swiped four bases and turned two double plays on the day. Vacaville Christian collected 12 hits as a team, with their leadoff hitter going 3-for-4 to set the tone, and several other batters throughout the lineup chipping in multiple hits.
