The Rio Vista Varsity Rams made quick work of San Juan on Thursday, cruising to a dominant 22-0 shutout win. The Rams were relentless from the opening inning, piling up 13 hits, drawing nine walks, and running wild on the base paths with 23 stolen bases. Camryn Perkins also delivered a gem in the circle, keeping San Juan off the scoreboard all afternoon.

Rio Vista got things rolling in the bottom of the first, scoring four runs to set the tone. Perkins drew a walk to start the scoring, Caleigh Bloesch followed with an RBI single, Stella Lunsford doubled home another run, and Taylor Bledsoe capped the inning with a run-scoring walk.

The Rams kept the pressure on in the second, putting up five more runs on two hits. Bloesch and Addison McKellar each drew run-scoring walks, a dropped third strike brought another run home, and Jalen Medders delivered a two-run double to push the lead to 9-0.

Rio Vista blew the game open with a nine-run third inning to extend the lead to 19-0. Perkins singled in a run, Bloesch drew a walk to plate another, McKellar doubled home two, a dropped third strike scored two more, and Medders capped the explosion with a three-run inside-the-park home run.

Perkins earned the win, tossing five spotless innings while allowing just five hits, striking out four, and walking three. Zalieha Mitchell took the loss for San Juan, surrendering 16 runs on seven hits over two innings, walking nine and striking out one.

McKellar, Perkins, Medders, and Lunsford each collected two hits to lead Rio Vista at the plate. McKellar and Medders both drove in three runs apiece to pace the offense. McKellar and Bloesch each drew two walks, and the Rams were just as dangerous on the bases — Aaliyah Kittlings, Lauren Bledsoe, Taylor Bledsoe, and Zoee Dewey all swiped multiple bags as the team racked up 23 stolen bases. Rio Vista was equally sharp in the field, committing zero errors, with McKellar handling the most chances with five.

Gabby Medrano was the lone bright spot for San Juan, going 2-for-2 at the plate.
